”Peace and Harmony”
Description of the Picture: “In my paintings’ calligraphy, I developed a new version, technique and style where, I design, draw, paint or make a collage of them that I’ve been inspired by Arabic/Persian alphabetic shapes and calligraphy. I’ve created a different space and connection between them in a surreal manner.
This is how peace and harmony looks in my city.”
ABOUT ARTIST
Artist: Naser Kafaee
“It was two weeks after my 30th birthday when I heard the words: “you’re on the spectrum.” As soon as I heard those four words, my body collapsed into my sister’s arms. I’m still trying to figure out what this all means. When I tell people I am an autistic, their reactions are mostly, “Wow, I would never have guessed that. You don’t act like you have autism.” I want to say back to them, “How am I supposed to act?” You can’t tell a person is on the spectrum by just looking at them.
As I try to explain what being on the spectrum means, I can see them start to get an interest in what I’m saying and they start asking me questions. I answer them as best as I can by using examples of my own life.
While I’m glad that I finally know I’m autistic, I sometimes wonder what my life would have been if I had been diagnosed as a child instead of in my early thirties.”
